P.S. I LOVE YOU

Tell me something, have you ever wanted or at least once imagined that you'll spend you life with someone that you can safely consider your soul-mate?

That no matter how much you despise that person one second and then be wholly in love with them the next second - you fight, you love, you laugh, you cried, but whatever the weather, you stick with them til the very end.
To be with someone who will always surprise you no matter in what condition you're in. That'll care for you even long after they're gone. I can bet that all of us wants that. But in real life, these imaginary things were just TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

If you're a dreamer like I am, then this movie is perfect for you. From the very start of it, you can be so angry, disgusted, funny (I did! ahah) and then you fall in love. People may say that this one is just a another clever love story just like the others, but having read the novel and watched the movie again and again, I dare say it's different.

The tale of how Holly go through her life after the death of her husband and soul-mate is so touching. What made the impact more than the usual ones is that, you can feel the emotions that the casts shows. It somehow reminds me of how it was when family members passed away. We just try to move on with our life even when deep down it is very hard, that almost everything that we faced reminds us of them.

The movie revolves on how Holly move on with her life with the help of her late husband, Gerry. You can see that at first she refused to do so, but got the encouragement after getting a birthday gift from her husband on her 30th birthday, the one without him around. She starts to anticipate letters from him every months, each letter with a certain message that helped her cope with usual day to day stuff to the very important decision to part with Gerry once and for all (here, I meant to part with the feeling of responsibility to keep on being his wife long after he died).

It is always so sweet to hear Gerry's letter and all the adventure he kept in stored for his beloved wife. Here we can see how love can be so beautiful with simple things and it can be kept long when our soul departs. It is as if were giving our last advice on things for our loved ones.

The character of Holly here is obviously so vulnerable when the movie started, vulnerable as in to all sort of feelings and emotions that always made her unstable, scared at times. But the character evolves throughout the movie from a widower who was always sad since the beginning after her husband died, to a strong woman who can stand up on her own and decide what she can so with her life- someone who is unafraid to open a new chapter, without forgetting the ones before.

Gerry on the other hand, is always sweet since the beginning til the end. To tell you the truth, if I need to find a man to be my husband and companion til the very end, I'll pick someone who is like Gerry plus have a good faith prospects. Gerry might be sort of trash talker and slacker sometimes here, but he's like the perfect man that everybody loves to have.

Aside from the tale of love and romance and coping with life, P.S. I LOVE YOU also touched me in a sense of values of friendship that it showed. Being someone who doesn't really know if she'd had best friend(s), I would really want to have those like Denice and Sharon. They're just so great that I wished I had them. To have that bond of friendship I dare say is scarce nowadays with all the backstabbing and this and that. But in this movie, it really open my eyes and gives me hope that there are people who can become my besties like these three girls in real life.

Sharon and Denise stays by Holly's side through thick or thin. They're always there to comfort her when she's sad and needed support. They enjoyed being together and always checking out on each other whether they're OK or not.

The movie plot is different from that of the book. I read the book beforehand, so there are certain parts (actually a lot of parts) that I wished they never changed too far from the book, better still, if they follow the original plot from the book.
Cecelis Ahern's touch on the story is so magical and touching. Even when the screenplay was written a bit differently.

But I can definitely say that this movie is A GREAT JOY to watch, and it's better to watch with your loved ones.

P/S I LOVE YOU deserves a YYYYY

Things I like in this movie:
EVERYTHING!!

My favorite of Gerry's quote:

Dear Holly, I don't have much time. I don't mean literally, I mean you're out buying ice cream and you'll be home soon. But I have a feeling this is the last letter, because there is only one thing left to tell you. It isn't to go down memory lane or make you buy a lamp, you can take care of yourself without any help from me. It's to tell you how much you move me, how you changed me. You made me a man, by loving me Holly. And for that, I am eternally grateful... literally. If you can promise me anything, promise me that whenever you're sad, or unsure, or you lose complete faith, that you'll try to see yourself through my eyes. Thank you for the honor of being my wife. I'm a man with no regrets. How lucky am I. You made my life, Holly. But I'm just one chapter in yours. There'll be more. I promise. So here it comes, the big one. Don't be afraid to fall in love again. Watch out for that signal, when life as you know it ends. P.S. I will always love you.

My favorite of Holly's quote:
(the last like before the movie wraps)

Dear Gerry, you said you wanted me to fall in love again, and maybe one day I will. But there are all kinds of love out there. This is my one and only life, And its a great and terrible and short and endless thing, and none of us come out of it alive. I don't have a plan... except, it's time my mom laughed again. She has never seen the world... she has never seen Ireland. So, I'm taking her back where we started... Maybe now she'll understand. I don't know how you did it, but you brought me back from the dead. I'll write to you again soon. P.S... Guess what?
